Blog 20: Fourth Interview Questions

1.  Who do you plan to interview?  What is this person's area of expertise?

- I plan on interviewing a friend from Turner's Outdoors located on Azuza in West Covina and he is a manager there as well as a very experienced fisherman and runs the fishing department.

2.  Post 20 open-ended questions you want to ask an expert in the field concerning your senior project. Your focus should be finding answers to your EQ.

- What's the best lure for bass fishing?
- What's your favorite type of bass fishing?
- How can we improve our fish populations?
- How can we help our fish become and maintain a better health?
- How often do you practice catch and release?
- Is it better to use barbless hooks?
- Where are some of your favorite places to fish at in Southern California?
- Of all these places, which is the most productive?
- What is your favorite type of fishing? Fly fishing/Spin Fishing/Conventional/etc?
- How how this job helped improve your skills?
- During the summer where do you fish most and for what species?
- During the spring where do you fish most and for what species?
- During the fall where do you fish most and for what species?
- During the winter where do you fish most and for what species?
- What is sport fishing relatable to?
- How has fishing impacted your life?
- What would you do if your could have any impact on fish?
- Do you personally believe in catch and release?
- If you could give me one major tip for fishing, what would it be?
- Is it possible for me to work at Turner's in the fishing section before I turn 18 so it can help me get gear for fishing?

Blog 14: Third Interview Preparation

How can a sports fisherman enjoy his craft while being mindful to the enviornment?

1.  Who do you plan to interview?  What is this person's area of expertise?

- I'm not exactly sure, but I plan to interview someone from my favorite tackle shop in Santa Fe Springs since I know a lot of people there.

2.  Verify that you have called your interviewee to schedule an interview.  What is the date and time of the interview? 

- I know everyone at the shop so it's not really a bother as I'm more than likely going to interview them either this upcoming weekend or next week.

3.  Phrase an open-ended question that will help you find research resources that would help to answer the EQ.

- How can a sports fisherman enjoy his craft while being mindful to the environment?

4.  Phrase an open-ended question that will help you think about other useful activities you might do to help you answer the EQ (IC2, possible experts to talk to, etc).

- What are the best approaches while attempting to catch fish?

5.  Phrase two open-ended questions that help you to understand your interviewee's perspective on an aspect of your EQ. 

- How long have you been fishing for and what are some of your best memories of fishing?

- What's the most important tip you can give any angler?

Blog 7 - Second Interview Preperation

1.  Who is your mentor and where do they work?  If their workplace does not reflect their expertise, what makes them an expert?

- My mentor is my father, Delbert Nuñez, who currently works at American Sample as the production room manager. As you can tell, his workplace doesn't reflect his expertise in sport fishing, but he has over 40 years of experience in this field and he has also been a part of the California Department of Fish and Game for over 30 years.

2.  What five questions will you ask them about their background?

1. What is your most fond memory involving sport fishing?
2. Who introduced you to fishing that got it all started? And how old where you then?
3. How much experience do you have compared to others with sport fishing?
4. How many associations or clubs have you been a part of with sport fishing?
5. What helps you to decide that you want to keep on fishing after all these years?
