Blog 17 - Interview 3 Reflection

1. What is the most important thing I learned from the interview?
- To clean up after yourselves after fishing and to never to leave anything behind except fish.
- If you need food or fish then take what you need and leave what you don't need.

2.  How has your approach to interviewing changed over the course of your senior project?
- I was more smoother during this interview and didn't have to stop and cut clips, but my interviewee was in a rush so it was a bit awkward and I didn't want to nag him as he was busy in his shop.

Blog 18: Answer 2

1.  What is your EQ?

How can a sports fisherman enjoy his craft while being mindful to the enviornment?

2.  What is your first answer? (In complete thesis statement format)

- My first answer to my EQ is to have a successful catch in order to have fun while enjoying my craft.

3.  What is your second answer? (In complete thesis statement format)

- My second answer to my EQ is to catch and release the fish as safe as possible in order to be mindful to the environment which is probably my best answer.

4.  List three reasons your answer is true with a real-world application for each.

- Anyone who has a good day and has a successful catch is going to have the time of their life. And anyone who releases fish safely with precaution will help keep the fish alive and live longer than expected.

5.  What printed source best supports your answer?

Deeter, Kirk. "Three Ways to Help Catch-and-Release Trout Survive." Field & Stream. Bass Pro Shops, 8 July 2013. Web. 25 Oct. 2015.

6.  What other source supports your answer?

N.A. "Improve and Protect Habitat." Improving Fishing:. N.P., n.d. Web. 25 Oct. 2015.

7.  Tie this together with a  concluding thought.

- Fishing is an amazing sport whether you can 100 fish or no fish. It's a great, enjoyable, and exciting sport that everyone should try at least a couple of times to get the feel of and to enjoy our friendly species underwater.

Blog 16: Independent Component 2 Approval

For this blog post and approval, please answer the following questions.

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.

- I'm going to fish with my mentor and film myself with my GoPro. This time will be better because I will have my GoPro from the start so I can film everything now instead of being late.

2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.

- The film will show plenty of events and traveling as well as fishing through a lot of places and gaining more experience in the field.

3.  Explain how this component will help you explore your topic in more depth.

- This will allow me to go fishing more and get more experience in the field as well as review the footage so I can see what happened and what occurred.

4.  Post a log in your Senior Project Hours link and label it "Independent Component 2" log.

- Done

  • APPLIED
How did the component help you understand the foundation of your topic better?  Please include specific examples to illustrate this.
  •  Throughout my entire independent component, I got to practice fishing techniques in California as well as different states. I got to practice my EQ by improving my catching skills and reducing my fishing skills. I also got to get footage and record different adventures of me fishing different areas and I got to target different species and learn more about catching fish.

Blog 15: Lesson 2 Reflection

This picture was taken right after my Lesson 2! :D

1.What are you most proud of in your Lesson 2 Presentation and why?
- I'm really proud of everything from entertaining people to informing and teaching people about Sport Fishing. As my worksheet and questionnaire showed, everyone learned something except for Zuhayr due to him answering his only question wrong, but I did understand his point. I also gave away stuff for students to take home and everyone came up to me after my presentation mentioning how great it was and how good my Hook and Activity were.

2. a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 2 Presentation (self-assessment)?

AE  <--     P          AP       CR       NC

     b.     Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 2 component contract.
- I reached every time minimum and never exceeded the time limit. I also had lots of information and evidence from sources and my mentor. I met every requirement and more for my lesson 2 and it was the best of both worlds; entertaining and informational.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 2?
My Hook was better than the hook I used in Lesson 1. The Activity worked really good as well and I had everybody's attention and enthusiasm up.

4. What didn't work? If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 2?
- The only thing that was sort of a problem was that my EQ was on the bottom of the page, and Mr.Rivas said he preferred it on top.

5. What do you think your answer #2 is going to be?
-  To be preservative to the fish and treat them with care so you don't harm them.
